Group 10

My name is Eileen Yates and I amthe Group 10 Employees Advisory Council representative (EAC). Group 10 includes the Fairfax –Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB). The CSB is a publically funded system of services for mental health, substance abuse and intellectual disabilities. I have worked with the CSB for over 25 years. I began my career as a mental health therapist at a group home in Alexandria. Throughout my career with Fairfax County I have assisted in program development with Mental Health Services. I have seen county services adapt over the years as funding and resources continue to become scarce. Currently, I am a mental health supervisor with the Behavioral Health Care Outpatient Unit at the Joseph and Fredona Gartlan Center for Community Mental Health. Despite budget constraints, Fairfax County continues to serve the most vulnerable of our residents. I joined the EAC to be a voice and advocate for CSB staff in matters that are most important to them. During my year as an EAC representative, I have discovered that there are many opportunities for staff to grow and develop in their career as well as in their personal life. Health and wellness opportunities are abundant. I encourage everyone to look closely at the Human Resources link on FairfaxNet to check out the resources available to us. I have also learned that many staff are not aware of their rights and responsibilities as employees with Fairfax County. These rights include the Family and Medical Leave Act, grievance procedures, performance management resources, the LiveWell Program and many other resources that can help support staff in job performance as well as personal health. I plan to develop training opportunities to share information about these services with employees and provide a greater understanding of what is available to all of us as county employees. I encourage staff to contact me with any questions, concerns or items you wish for me to share with the EAC. Please feel free to call me at 703-799-2766
